Aakash Malhotra hits ton

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHi, January 18: Delhi Ranji Trophy player Aakash Malhotra was once again at his best when he scored an impressive century for Bright Cricket Club to help them beat Goswami Ganesh Dutt Cricket Club by 105 runs in the BDM Challenge Cup tournament at the Ramjas Sports Complex here today.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bright made 228 losing nine wickets in 45 overs. Bright started on a poor note and lost four wickets in 12 overs making just 30 runs. But as soon as Aakash Malhotra took charge at the centre, he repaired the damage and brought things under control. Aakash tormented GG Dutt bowlers and raced to a brilliant century.

Aakash's konck of 101 runs, which was the hightlight of the day, came off 121 balls and included four boundaries and one six. Aakash was ably supported by Sanjeev Suri, who scored 57. For GG Dutt, Alok Pratap salvaged some pride by claiming four wickets.

It was certainly not G.G. Dutt's day as their batting line-up fell like a pack of cards and they were all out in 34.3 overs making just 123 runs. Udai Bhan was the highest scorer for the losers making 34 runs. Suri emerged as the most sucessful bowler for Bright, capturing two wickets for 14 runs.
