PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
New Delhi, Jan 19: The Delhi police today announced several measures, including `fixing the identity' of people buying over ten tickets for the upcoming Indo-Pak Test match here, to foil any attempt by Shiv Sainiks to disrupt the event.
People purchasing more than ten tickets will have to prove their identity which will be taken note of by the police, joint commissioner of police (northern range) Suresh Roy said.
``No food items, water bottles, sticks or any other material which could be used as missiles would be allowed inside the Ferozeshah Kotla stadium, the venue of the match and all spectators would be thoroughly frisked,'' he said.
The Shiv Sena had threatened that its activists would buy over 5,000 tickets to storm the venue. Police would be installing a number of door frame metal detectors to detect any hidden weapon or sharp-edged items that can be used as missiles, he said.
Meanwhile, police commissioner V N Singh told reporters here the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) had beenasked to raise the fence around the Kotla grounds, whose pitch was dug up by Shiv Sainiks on January six protesting Pakistan's support to terrorists.
``The DDCA has started the work. We have also told them to close the gaps along the outer wall to ensure the safety of the players and spectators,'' Singh said.
