CHANDIGARH, Jan 19: The National Youth Week concluded here today at Government College for Girls, Sector 11.During a function, organised by Directorate of Youth Services, floral tributes were paid to Swami Vivekananda. Harsimrat, Secretary to Punjab Government Department of Youth Services and Sports, who was chief guest on the occasion, called upon the youth to adopt the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and work for the upliftment of downtrodden and weaker sections.
During the function, students from various colleges of Patiala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Malerkotla, Barnala, Malout staged a variety of cultural items. A lecture on Swami Vivekananda - Inspiration to Youth - was also delivered on the occasion. Among the other attractions of the programme were a Haryanvi dance, gidda, bhangra, folk song, ghazal and mime.
Brig S.S. Kaler, Director Youth Services, Punjab, said the youth should adopt a positive and harmonious attitude and play a constructive role in building the nation.
