CHANDIGARH, Jan 19: Three tehsildars have been appointed registrars of marriages under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 read with Hindu Marriage Registration Rules, 1960 for Chandigarh tehsil with immediate effect. H.R. Nagra, Tehsildar, Revenue, will perform the duties from 1st to 10th of every month, D.S. Baloria, Tehsildar, Enforcement, from 11th to 20th of every month and K.S. Gill, Tehsildar, Colonies, from 21st to the end of every month, according to a release.CTCC refutes Jain's claim The Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee has strongly reacted to the statement of local MP Satya Pal Jain that the Congress had suffered heavy losses in the recent UT panchayat polls. CTCC spokesperson Sunil Parti said in a statement that the BJP had been routed in the panchayat polls, claiming that the Congress had in fact gained largely. He further claimed that had the elections been fought on party symbol, the Congress would have completely routed the BJP, adding that the verdict clearly went against the policies of the BJP-led Central Government.
