Powermen union resents strike period condition

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Jan 19: The UT Powermen Union has picked up cudgels against the Administration for the reported decision to put a break in the service of electricity employees who had participated in the one-day strike on December 11 on the call of Electricity Employees Federation of India.

The general secretary of the Union, Bhagmal Rana, said it was extreme callousness on the part of Administration to penalise the employees demanding their due. "The Union has taken up this matter seriously and has given a call to all the electricity employees of engineering wing in UT to observe a protest strike on February 10 in this regard," he said.

Rana alleged that the employees were upset over the Administration's indifference towards their long-pending demands, which mainly include release of PSEB scale to the left-out categories of employees and creation of additional posts to cope with the increasing work load. The Union has threatened to launch an agitation in case the Administration did not listen to their grievances immediately.
