Daman polio campaign reaches 10,379 children

SURAT, Jan 19: A total 105.66 per cent success was achieved in the second round of the pulse polio immunisation campaign in Daman on January 17. While 10379 children below five years were administered the vaccine, 31 booths were set up throughout the district. As many as 150 health staff, 65 teachers and 35 anganwadi workers were deployed at the vaccination centres.The campaign was supervised by Dr S S Vaishya, Director, Medical and Health Services, Daman and Diu. Administrator Ramesh Negi inaugurated the first phase of the programme. Devjibhai Tandel, MLA of Daman and Diu, Jogibhai Tandel, Niaskar, resident of Daman Industries, among others, visited the campaign. In their respective addresses, they praised the health and medical staff for their efforts and exhorted them to eradicate polio from the union territory of Daman and Diu.
