Collage triumph

NEW DELHI, January 19: An enterprising 135-run partnership for the third wicket between Sanjay Verma (109) and Anil Sinha (48) helped Collage Group score a convincing 107-run victory over Brighto Club in the ninth BDM Challenge Cup played at Ramjas sports complex here today.

Electing to bat, Collage made 251 for five in the stipulated 45 overs and then restricted Brighto to 144 in 37.2 overs. Sanjay Saini (4 for 24) and Mannu Kumar (2 for 11) were the most successful bowlers.

Brief Scores: Collage Group: 251 for 5 in 45 overs (Sanjay Verma 109, Anil Sinha 48, John Anthony 36 not out). Brighto: 144 in 37.2 overs (Vishal Giri 45, Gaurav Malhotra 25, Sanjay Saini 4 for 24, Mannu Kumar 2 for 11).

Fine spell by Pachauri: A fine spell of bowling by Pachauri (4 for 18) helped tata Energy Research Institute beat HUDCO by 78 runs in the sixth Teri Cup.

In another match, Tata Lucent Technologies defeated P&O Travel India by 42 runs.

Brief Scores: Tata Lucent: 164 for 8 (Rajiv Gosain 46, Deepak Kaul 37, Vinod Kumar 2 for 11, Ashish Kumar 2 for 28) bt P&O Travel India: 122 for 8 (Vinod Kumar 33 not out, Ashish Sharma 35, Rajesh 3 for 19) by 42 runs.

TERI: 158 for 7 (Pradeep Kumar 37, Mahesh Chand 31, K P Eashwar 26, Yogesh Saxena 2 for 28) bt HUDCO: 80 (Mukesh Kumar 30, Pachauri 4 for 18) by 78 runs.

Devender strikes
Powered by Devender Chaudhary's all-round display (54 and 3 for 23), Youngsters beat Ajmal Khan by 47 runs in a A1 division match of DDCA league at Palam ground.

Brief Scores: Youngsters: 173 for 5 in 30 overs (Devender Chaudhary 54, Avtar Singh 33, Pitamber Dutt 25, Sushil Rana 2 for 40, Lokesh Kumar 2 for 20).

Ajmal Khan: 126 all out in 26.3 overs (Jitender Kumar 23, Sushil Rana 18, Hemraj 19, Devender Chaudhary 3 for 23, S Gulati 2 for 25, Deepak Joon 2 for 25).
