Pankaj, Rakhi win
Pankaj Pandey of Ministry of Finance and Rakhi Meena of Ministry of Home Affairs claimed the men's and women's singles titles, respectively, in the inter-ministry badminton tournament at Ansari Nagar.

Results
Men's singles: Pankaj Pandey (Finance) bt Kulvinder pal Singh (Finance) 15-12, 15-11. Men's doubles: Kulvinder Pal Singh and Uman Chopra (Finance) bt Rajiv Sharma and A P Singh (CAG) 7-15, 15-5, 15-11.
Women's singles: Rakhi Meena (Home Affairs) bt Varsha Kohli (Defence) 11-4, 11-1. Veterans singles: H K Sharma (Defence) bt S K Gupta (Home Affairs) 15-13, 15-12. Veterans doubles: H K Sharma and S K Gupta bt C L Wadhawan and A K Bajaj (Water Resources) 15-5, 15-5.

Wheelchair tennis
Indian wheelchair tennis players Jagdish Meena and Pradip Lal will head to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in May to play the Asia-Oceana qualifying round of the 1999 Irvacare World Team Cup, organised by the International Tennis Federation. The qualifiers in the May 3-5 tournament will go on to play the final leg at Flushing Meadows, New York. Meena and Lal are also scheduled to play another week-long touornament in Kuala Lumpur, organised by the Wheelchair Tennis Federation, Malaysia, immediately after the team cup.

Sood shines
A fine all-round display by Mahesh Sood (40 and 3 for 20) helped Dena Bank beat Rohtak Road Gymkhana by 19 runs in the second Hari Singh Tyagi TYCA league at Mohan Nagar.

Brief Scores: Dena Bank: 167 for 5 in 25 overs (Mahesh Sood 40, Pradeep Gupta 33 not out, Rajkumar Sharma 33, Chetanya Nanda 2 for 36). R R Gymkhana: 148 all out in 24.3 overs (Neeraj Chawla 60, Pradeep Chawla 38, Chetan Sharma 20, Mahesh Sood 3 for 20, Jogindra Singh 2 for 17).
