CHANDIGARH, Jan 20: A couple residing on the Panjab University campus died after their scooter was reportedly hit by a vehicle, which has not been identified, near a wine shop in Khuda Lahora today.The deceased have been identified as Manmohan Singh and his wife. Manmohan Singh was believed to be in his fifties.
The police have registered a case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code.
In another accident, Sector 40 resident Rajiv Khosla was admitted to the PGI after he was reportedly hit by a Maruti car near his residence.
Meanwhile, students of an S.A.S Nagar school had a narrow escape when one of the front tyres of their Matador came out. The accident occurred in Phase III, police said. None of the students were reportedly hurt.
