Hundred women forced to turn Devadasis

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
BANGALORE, Jan 20: Over 100 women were forced to become Devadasis at Thondihala village in Raichur district. Of these, 50 women were paraded in a semi-nude state, flouting restrictions imposed by the district administration.The administration had banned the ritual, but the night-long ritual of animal slaughter, accompanied by the nude parade, ran its full course unchecked during the Huligemma Jatra.
