Double for Chattwinder

CHANDIGARH, Jan 24: Top seed Chattwinder Singh bagged first positions in both under-14 and under-16 boys group on the concluded of the PD Vashisht Memorial total tennis tournament.

Chattwinder outclassed Gurneet 7-5, 6-4 in the under-14 section while he scored 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Tushar Liberahan, to score a double in the meet.

Under-12 boys title went to Karan Patanik, who got a walk over from Yuvraj Choudhary in the final.

Satvika Saboo defeated Simmer Singh 6-3, 6-2, to take home the under-16 girls title.

Under-12: Final: Karan Patnaik w/o from Yuvraj Choudhary.
Under-14: Final: Chattwinder bt Gurneet 7-5, 6-4.
Semifinal: Gurneet bt Ardaman 7-6 (10-8), 6-3.
Under-16: Final: Chattwinder bt Tushar Liberahan 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

Girls
Under-16: Satvika Saboo bt Simmer Singh 6-3, 6-2.
PU dominate
Host Punjab University, judokas dominated the second day of the ongoing All India Inter-University judo (men and women) championship being held here at PU Gymnasium Hall.

Bhupinder Singh and Charanpreet Kaur of Chandigarh, won gold medals in the 60kg and 52kg categories in men's and women's group respectively. With two gold medals today, the host has increased their tally to three.

Below 52kg: 1 Bhupinder Singh (PU, Chandigarh), 2 Kuljit Singh (Jammu University), 3 S Vinayak (Poona University), 3 Pawan Pratap (CCS University).

Women
Below 52kg: 1 Charanpreet Kaur (PU, Chandigarh), 2 Indu Sharma (Delhi University), 3 Meena Swamy (Barkat Ullah University), 3 Savita (Kurukshetra University).
