NEW DELHI, January 24: Faculty members of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have decided to go on mass casual leave tomorrow to force the government to revise their pay scales. The AIIMS Faculty Association, which rejected a pay package notified by the government on Friday, has also sought the intervention of the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee to direct the Finance Ministry to implement the modified Bakshi Committee recommendations.
Flaying the ``procrastinating, callous and astonishing attitude'' of the Finance Ministry towards ``some of the best brains in the country'', they said in a memorandum to the Prime Minister that the government was ``trying to demonstrate its total lack of concern for scientific and technical personnel''.
