NEW DELHI, January 24: Keeping pace with the National Tourism Week, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today announced the launching of the Masters in Tourism studies programme from January, 2000.According to Vice-Chancellor Prof A.W. Khan, this programme will be designed and developed in collaboration with different segments of the tourism industry.
The programme is in pursuance of the University's policy of providing professional education, particularly in remote regions, he said. According to Prof Kapil Kumar, programme coordinator, 130 study centres all over the country will be operationalised for this purpose. The thrust of the programme is to train manpower in tourist destination zones.
