BJP flays killing of missionary, sons

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
JALANDHAR, Jan 27: The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the killing of an Australian misionary in Orissa. At the same time, the party attributed the spurt in such killings to a deep-rooted conspiracy.

BJP unit general secretary Jugal Mahajan alleged that the Congress was unnecessarily indulging in ``mud-slinging'' and ``allegations'' against the ``patriotic'' organsiaiton like Bajrang Dal.

He called upon the CBI to probe as to how come the incidents causing strife among the Hindus and Christian communities had registered an alarming increase after Sonia Gandhi's take-over as president of the Congress.

The BJP also asked the investigating agency to explore the role of Madhya Pradesh and Orissa governments in some of these incidents in their states.

AMRITSAR: Tarun Chugh, president of the Punjab unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, today, denied any involvement of the Sangh Parivar, the Bajrang Dal or the Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) in the killing of the Australian missionary G. S. Steins and his two sons in Orissa.

Commenting on the killing, Chugh alleged that it was a conspiracy hatched by the ruling Congress in Orissa to defame the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bajrang Dal and the VHP for achieving their political goals.

Accusing the Congress and other Opposition party leaders for being involved in the killings, Chugh said that these leaders were trying to disturb peace in the country at the behest of some foreign powers.

He demanded that the Union Government institute an inquiry into the incident to find out the real culprits.
