BATHINDA, Jan 27: The activists of the SAD (Panthik) today burnt the copies of a Punjabi daily to protest against its alleged anti-Sikh stance and role in creating division among the panthik forces. They also organised a protest march from Gurdwara Singh Sabha to the district courts. During the march slogans were raised against Parkash Singh Badal and editor of the daily for challenging the Hukamanama (edict) of the Akal Takht.
In a meeting, the unit unanimously passed a resolution that the Akal Takht was supreme and the forces who were trying to separate religion from the politics must be checked.
In yet another resolution, the unit stated that the editor of the Punjabi daily should apologise for his anti-Sikh stance, creating division among Akalis and assailing the Takht for personal gains.
The unit also appealed to Akal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh to punish violators of the Hukamnama. The meeting was presided over by unit's district chief Baljinder Singh and was attended by city president Harpal Singh Mithu, beside others.
