SBI's credit card scheme for farmers launched in Mewat
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
GURGAON, January 27: The SBI Kisan Credit Card Scheme was launched in the Mewat area of the district today. The scheme, which has been designed on the model prepared by Nabard for all State Bank of India (SBI) branches handling agricultural advances, aims at providing adequate and timely support to farmers for short-term production and helping them purchase seeds and other inputs in a cost effective manner. The Gurgaon coordinator of the SBI, Ramesh Chandra Vashistha, said that the credit extended under the scheme would revolve around cash credit providing for any number of withdrawals and repayments within the limits. Vashistha added that the credit limit would be fixed on the basis of operational land holding, cropping pattern and the scale of finance. The scheme was made operational at five branches of the SBI in the economically backward Mewat region at a ceremony today. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
