MUMBAI, JAN 29: Chandigarh teenager Parneeta Garewal once again proved her supremacy in the women's circuit with a clear win at the Ladies Western India Golf Championship co-sponsored by WIGA, Kores and Classic Stripes which concluded today at the par-70 Bombay Presidency Golf Club, today.The National champion carded a day's best card of two-over par 72 to finish with a total of 294, seven strokes ahead of the second-placed Urvashi Sethi Sodhi of Madras. Urvashi, part of the Indian team along with Parneeta at last year's Queen Sirikit Cup, fired a steady four-over par 74 to take her gross to 301.
``It feels great to win...again,'' said a visibly relieved Parneeta who hopes to turn professional next year. Delhi's Shruti Khanna, who set the pace yesterday with a card of 73 had a nightmarish back nine today. Teeing off from the ninth at level par for the day, the string of bogeys began. Shruti dropped shots on the ninth, 12, 13, 14, 17 and 18. The worst was the 358-yard par-four 11 where she had a triplebogey.
Young Maithili Khatau clinched top honours in the bronze category (handicap 19-29) with a net of 278. She had the day's best gross of 88 today.
In the 36-hole event for seniors, Shakuntala Chauhan emerged supreme with a gross score of 199 while Ayesha Kapur's 309 saw her lift the junior's trophy.
