Test postponed
The Elementary Teachers' Training Entrance test 1998-2000, scheduled to be held on January 31, has been postponed. It will now be held on February 7, while the time and other instructions related to the test will remain the same, according to the Director of Public Instruction Daljit Kaur Chadha.

Parents sore
The parents of students of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, are up in arms against the school's Parent Teacher Association for holding functions without involving the parents. According to a press release signed by more than 50 parents, the non-cooperative attitude of the PTA has been strongly condemned.

Mela today
The two-day annual Mata Jayanti Devi Mela will begin on January 30, at the Jayanti Temple near the PGI, according to temple priest Chander Muni.

Blood donation camp
More than 300 students donated blood at a camp held at D.A.V. College, Sector 10, here today. The blood donation camp was held in collaboration with State Bank of India, Medical Institute Branch, and was inaugurated by SBI General Manager R. C. Aggarwal.

Notice of motion
On a civil writ petition seeking the quashing of an order appointing Gopal Ji Mishra as director of Punjab Police's Forensic Science Laboratory on contract basis for a year, a division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notice of motion for March 30.

Former PU Asst. Registrar dead
Former Assistant Registrar of Punjab University, Chandigarh, A. N. Chawla, passed away today after a brief illness. He was 68. The cremation will take place tomorrow at the cremation grounds, Manimajra.
