MC dissolution sought

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Jan 29: Various political parties and associations have sought the intervention of the UT Administrator and Punjab Governor for dissolving the Municipal Corporation following yesterday's incidents.

In a statement, Samajwadi Janata Party president Devinder Singh Babla said the public was facing many problems due to the inefficiency of the Municipal Corporation, whose functioning was affected due to the infighting of the BJP. He further alleged that the MC had repeatedly been adjourned without transacting any business, and the same should be dissolved with immediate effect.

Lok Shakti local president Ravi Parkash Kansal has also demanded the dissolution of the MC and fresh elections thereof. The Bahujan Bachao Party secretary Ram Singh Bhatoya has demanded resignation of the BJP, SAD councillors from the Municipal Corporation.

The North India Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Association has also condemned the role of BJP councillors in the MC. Its president K.C. Shenmar has said that everyone should support an SC mayor.
