Debutant Nair wrecks Delhi

PUNE, Feb 5: The `batsman friendly' Nehru Stadium turned out a nightmare for batsmen, as 13 wickets were accounted on the opening day of the Delhi-Maharashtra Group B Super League Ranji Trophy tie today.

Maharashtra's debutant Sachin Nair was the killer on the rampage. His five-wicket haul saw Delhi fold up for 156 two minutes before tea. At close, the hosts tottered at 93, three of their top-order back in the dressing room. Abhijit Kale, who looked shaky in the beginning, was on 46. Jadeja props Haryana

Rajkot: With a doctorate in crisis management answering distress calls is nothing new for Ajay Jadeja. He got the SOS with his team gasping at 75-4 and when the Haryana skipper left for the day, he was unbeaten on 120 (215b, 266m, 14x4, 1x6) and his team a lot healthier at 318-7. In a nutshell, the first day of the Group C Super League match between Haryana and Saurashtra proved just another day at office for Ajay Jadeja.

Baroda flay Bengal

Calcutta: An unfinished partnershipof 157 between Jacob Martin (99 not out) and Tushar Arothe (80 not out) enabled Baroda to end Day one at a strong 265 for three in the Group A Super League tie against Bengal here today.Brief scores: Baroda 265-3 (R Swaroop 62, J Martin 99 not out, T Arothe 80 not out, Bose 2-50) vs Bengal.

Rajasthan bat soundly

Jaipur: A brilliant ton by opener Anshu Jain (100) helped hosts Rajasthan pile up 252 for 5 on the first day in the four-day Ranji Trophy Group A Super League match against Punjab here today.
