Sheetal, Sunil clinch ITF Jr tennis titles

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, February 5: Unseeded Sunil Kumar of Chandigarh upset top-seed Kedar Tembe 6-4, 6-3 to claim the boys singles title in the ITF Junior Circuit tennis championship here today. The girls' title was won by top-seed Sheetal Gautham of Karnataka, who edged out Maharashtrian Sonal Phadke 7-5, 6-4. This was second title for Sheetal, who alongwith Shruti Dhawan had won the doubles, yesterday.

Sunil, who upset fifth-seeded Mark Weaver of Britain in the semi-finals yesterday, faced no difficulty in ousting the top seed Indian. Tembe struggled to find his rhythm and could not give a tough fight to Sunil who played well throughout to win the match.

Meanwhile, All-India Tennis Association has sanctioned Rs one lakh as a help to Sunil Kumar to play in international tournaments.
