Tihar DIG's house burgled

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
NEW DELHI, February 7: A burglary reportedly took place in the house of Jaidev Sarangi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Tihar jail today morning. The DIG is out of station and has been informed about the incident. Initial investigations have revealed that 10 kg of gold has been stolen from the house. The police are waiting for the DIG to return to make an estimate of the items stolen. A case has been registered at the Chanakyapuri police station.

The police say Sarangi had locked his house in Vinay Marg and had left the back door key with Omprakash, his guard. Between 3 and 4 a.m. today, while Omprakash was sleeping, he heard noises from the flat. He saw two persons running towards the the road. The police believe that the robbers broke open the front door to enter the house. The police say jewellery and a cell phone were missing.
