CHANDIGARH, Feb 10: A rally was staged by the bank employees in continuation of their on-going protest for a negotiated wage settlement in the banking industry for employees, officers, effective from November 1, 1997.Addressing the rally, Dharam Singh Rajput (AIEBEA) said that it was unfortunate that inspite of the flexibility demonstrated by the UFBU, the Indian Bank Association chose to stick to their wage board which did not favour the bank employees.
Meanwhile the agitation by the Class IV employees of the Haryana Apex Cooperative Bank's Employees Union has received the support of the Class III Employees Union in support of their demands.The employees are agitating since the first of this month.and according to the general secretary of the union the issues were taken up with the authorities who had assured the settlement of the disputes within four days but to no avail.The staff have threatened to observe a pen down strike if their demands are not met.
