Woman stabbed in Dadumajra

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Feb 10: A Woman of Dadu Majra colony here has been admitted to the hospital with stabbing wounds. The police said it was yet not clear whether it was an attempt to murder or she tried to kill herself.

According to police sources, Surjeet Kaur, who was stabbed in the neck, is out of danger.

The police were informed of the incident around 9.15 p.m. By the time police reached the spot, the woman's relatives had moved her to the PGI. Police sources added that Surjit Kaur and her husband Mohinder Singh were apparently not getting along well. The woman was also reported to be not in perfect mental health.

Last night when their son came home, his mother's labored breathing alerted him to her condition; he rushed the unconscious and bleeding woman to the PGI.

The father and son sell fruits and vegetables separately to earn a living.

The police do not have a clear picture of what happened and are waiting for the woman to recover sufficiently to make a statement. Meanwhile, the police have seized a knife and begun investigations.
