Mahajan, A K Patel to attend meet
Union Information Minister Pramod Mahajan and Union Minister of State for Fertilisers Dr A K Patel will attend a two-day national seminar on Ayurved medicines, beginning in Saputara from Friday. Ayurved experts and scientists from all over the country will attend the seminar, to be attended by Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel, Forest Minister Kanjibhai Patel and Health Minister Ashokbhai Bhatt. Present in-charge secretary S K Nanda, during his posting at the Dangs in 1982, had set up the Dangs District Ayurvedic Pharmacy, which markets medicines made from these plants.Traffic drive
A joint operation by the traffic police, RTO, FSL and Civil Supplies department against autorickshaw drivers found 12 three-wheelers being run on adulterated fuel. DSP K D Chandnani said all 12 vehicles were seized during the operation carried out near Adajan ST depot on Tuesday.
Stock seized
The state government has initiated legal action against the owner of Deepak Products, a Borsara-based flour mill, for not maintaining proper records. A team led by DSO K D Chandnani found irregularities during a raid conducted recently. Stocks worth Rs 1.54 lakh was seized and action initiated against Pareshkumar Chimanbhai Lalkia under the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Order, 1980.
Productivity week
The South Gujarat Productivity Council will celebrate `Productivity Week' from February 12 to 14. Former chief Minister Amarsinh Chaudhary will inaugurate the celebrations at a function to be held at Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
Gandhi Mela
The 50th Gandhi Mela will begin at Vedchhi's Gandhi Vidyapith on Thursday. Various programmes, including an exhibition on tribal life, yuvak sammelan, mahila sammelan, cultural programmes, flag hoisting, `bal mela', `shanti sena rally' and `samuh katan', will be held during the mela, that will be inaugurated at 9 am.
