Litterateurs quit govt posts

MUMBAI, February 12: Several Marathi litterateurs from across the state resigned from government bodies protesting Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's remarks against writers.Following Ram Shevalkar's resignation from the membership of Rajya Marathi Vikas Sanstha (RMVS), poet Mangesh Padgaonkar and Madhu Mangesh Karnik submitted their resignation today to the RMVS' director Sarojini Vaidya. Dr B L Bhole quit from Balbharti, Civics Committee, Mahatma Phule Sadhan Sangraha Samiti and government's gazetteer committee; activist Dr Rupa Kulkarni from Vidhi Anuvad and Paribhasha Samiti and the Literacy Committee and Prof Suresh Dwadashiwar from presidentship of Vidarbha Sahitya Sangha.
