SOLAN, Feb 12: The police arrested two persons on the charge of smuggling liquor and recovered 4,250 pouches of Hero brand whiskey from their possession at Baddi industrial township under Barotiwala police station in this district last night.Additional Superintendent of police Himanshu Mishra said here today that a police party following a tip off led by ASI Ranjit Singh organised a Nakagandi near excise barrier Baddi and intercepted a truck No HP 12-3617, coming from Madawala side on the Nalagarh-Pinjore road. ASI Ranjit Singh during the search of truck recovered the liquor which was being carried in 85 boxes without any documents.
Mishra said that arrested persons were Mohender Singh, driver of the truck, a resident of Nanakpura village of Panchkula district and Tarsem Singh, cleaner, resident of Jawali area of Kangra district.
He said that liquor was being smuggled from Chandigarh to Baddi and SAI area of Barotiwala police station. The truck has also been impounded and a case has been registered under Excise Act.
