Notice to Haryana on buses plying without permit

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Feb 12: On a petition challenging the alleged plying of unauthorised buses in Haryana, a division bench of the High Court has issued notice of motion to the state of Haryana, the state Transport Commissioner, besides other respondents, for March 26.

The notice was issued by the bench comprising Justice V.K. Bali and Justice A.S. Garg, on the petition filed under Article 226. In their petition, Dagar Co-operative Transport Society, Lohia Co-operative Transport Society and Bainsla Co-operative Transport Society, have sought directions to the respondents to act in accordance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act and check the movement of buses allegedly plying without permit between Palwal and Hassanpur via Dheeghot.

The petitioners have also sought directions against the ``individuals operating buses illegally, causing loss of revenue to the Government.'' The counsel for the petitioner has added that no action was taken by the transport authorities, even the police officials, despite repeated complaints.
