Faldo, Jeev crash out, Randhawa makes cut

AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE
DUBAI, FEB 12: Top Indian pros Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa had mixed luck at the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament today.

While Jeev failed to make the cut after the second round, Randhawa made the grade with much to spare at the Dubai Creek Course here.

The 27-year-old Jeev, who had a disastrous round of six-over 78 yesterday, came up with a drastically improved show for his second round 70, but missed the cut, which was applied at two over 146, by two strokes.

Randhawa came up with a brilliant three-under 69 after his yesterday's 73 to make the cut and be five strokes adrift of the leaders.

Jeev finished with an aggregate of 148 to bow out of the tournament as did European great Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam and Steve Ballesteros.

The Chandigarh pro, the only Indian on the EPGA tour, was placed joint second on EPGA Order of Merit after finishing joint third in the Alfred Dunhill South African PGA championship the same month.

Englishman David Howell was leading with a tally of 137. IrishmanPaul McGinley, Australian Wayne Riley and Scot Peter Downie were a stroke behind.

US Masters and British Open champion Mark O'Meara of United States was two shots off the pace in a group of players on 139 while European Order of Merit champion Colin Montgomery was three behind.
