Vijay Kumar fires six-under

NOIDA: Lucknow's Vijay Kumar was the only player to unravel the mystery of the Noida Golf Course as he shot six-under 66 to open a huge gap on the opening day of the Sir Padampat Singhania Open, here today.

Leading Scores (after 18 holes): 66 Vijay Kumar; 71 Dinesh Kumar; 72 Shiv Prakash, Indrajit Bhalotia, Gaurav Ghei, Devender Kumar Verma; 73 Amandeep Johl, Uttam Singh Mundy, Sanjay Kumar.

Railways quota

NEW DELHI: Railways will fill 70 per cent of vacancies in the sports quota through open advertisements, Railway Minister Nitish Kumar said today. The Railways Sports Control Board has been renamed as Rail Sports Promotion Board, the minister said.

Women's tennis

KOCHI: The All-India National women's tennis tournament will be held here from March 1 to 6. Leading women tennis players are expected to take part in the tournament which offers a total prize money of Rs 50,000.-- ENS & Agencies
