NEW DELHI, February 25: Delhi recently won the all-India inter-university cricket tournament for the Rohinton Baria Trophy in Gulbarga, after a gap of nine years, beating Osmania in the final. Sterling performances by almost all members of the team, led by Harender Chaudhary, was the highlight of Delhi University's title triumph.Delhi had last won the title in 1989-90 at Sholapur under the captaincy of Raj Kapoor.
In the final, Delhi made 326 in 50 overs with Vicky Dhir making 104, Deepak Bhatnagar 65 and Radheyshyam Gupta 63. In reply, Osmania were dismissed for 180. Mobin (4), Harender (3) and Nitish Malik (2) were the successful bowlers.
In the semi-final against Madras, Deepak Bhatnagar (88), Varun Kumar (41) and Sunil Rawat (51) were the principal scorers as they chased the victory target of 300 runs. In the quarter-final, Delhi beat M S University, Baroda, Harender (56) and Vicky Dhir (35) being the main contributors.
