Carbine goes off accidentally at Bhabha, three injured

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
March 1: Three persons were injured when a police constable stationed at the Bhabha Hospital, Bandra (west), accidentally triggered his rifle this morning.

Constable Jagdish Dalvi has been guarding prisoner Hussain Nasir Khan, who has been admitted to the Bhabha hospital since February 25. According to the police, Dalvi was loading the weapon at around 6.40 am in the men's ward when it accidentally went off. The safety catch was probably not locked properly, said the police.

The bullets ricocheted and hit three bystanders. The injured persons have been identified as Mohammed Javed Shaikh (26), Narul Allah Khan (34) and Vishnukumar Hiralal Mahato (18). All three of them were treated at the hospital and stated to be out of danger. They were later discharged.
