Workshop on teachers' problems
A workshop was organised at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 33, in association with the State Institute of Education. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the problems of teachers teaching Plus One and Plus Two classes.

Role of materials managers discussed
As many as 48 participants from engineering, electronics, sugar, textiles, pharmaceuticals and SSI sectors participated in a one-day executive development programme on ``Changed Role of Materials Managers in Recessionary Trend'' organised by the Indian Institute of Materials Management at Panjab University, today.

Consumer forum office closed today
The office of the Chandigarh Consumers Forum will remain closed on March 2 and March 3 due to Holi, a statement issued here said. Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Press Club will remain closed on March 3 on account of Holi.

Managers visit PTL, Dabur India Ltd
In keeping with its initiative to share best practices in human resource development, the CII organised a two-day HRD mission to Baddi and Mohali. A statement issued here said that 30 managers from the northern region visited and interacted with the top management of Dabur India Limited and Auro Spining Mills in Baddi, and Punjab Tractors Ltd and Fujitsu India Telecom Ltd in Mohali.

AITUC call to back OCM workers
The Punjab unit of AITUC has called upon all its units and other trade unions to hold rallies and meetings in support of 300 workmen of the OCM unit of Amritsar. The Punjab State Committee AITUC president has alleged that as many as 300 mill workers have been confined to the premises.

Symposium on DNA technology
An Indo-US symposium on ``Recombinant DNA Technology and its Application in Drug Discovery'' in collaboration with Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, USA, is being organised on March 4 , 5.

Budget `anti-staff'
Members of the Punjab Non-Gazetted Employees' Organisation today criticised the Budget and termed it as ``anti-employees.'' Parents meet DCn In order to apprise the UT Administration of the difficulties being faced by children with mental disabilities, a delegation of parents today met DC R. K. Rao. According to a press release, MC Councillor Shanta Abhilashi, who led the delegation, requested the authorities to provide vocational training to the parents for ensuring proper physical development of children.

The organisation has called for the immediate withdrawal of 10 per cent surcharge.

Consumer mela from March 13
The UT Consumer Forum will organise a three-day consumer fair from March 13 to 16 in association with the UT Administration and the MC. The fair will mark celebrations of the World Consumer Day which falls on March 15.
