Auto sharing to kick off in PCMC areas

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, March 1: The sub-regional Transport Office (RTO) at Nigdi has put forward a proposal to the three-seater autorickshaw union in Pimpri-Chinchwad to begin share-a-rickshaw scheme between important routes.

The scheme is being introduced in a bid to provide some solace for the citizens as they have to dole out exorbitant fares to the autorickshaw drivers who refuse to charge fares as per the prescribed meter readings. Sub-regional transport officer D M Gunjkar told The Indian Express that the proposal of share-a-rickshaw scheme was discussed today with the leaders of the Rickshaw Panchayat in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Gunjkar said that the share-a-rickshaw scheme is already being implemented in some towns and also in some parts of Mumbai. If the scheme was implemented here the passengers would be benefitted, he hoped.
