PUNE, March 1: Two knife-wielding youths relieved a 21-year-old woman tourist from Norway of her handbag containing Rs 20,000 in cash and other important documents in the plush Koregaon Park area early on Monday.Lin Crystal Clevan, a resident of Rakshalekha Housing Society in Koregaon Park, was returning home after attending a programme at the Osho Commune International when the incident took place, according to the police.
Lin was cycling near the society around 3.30 a.m. when the duo intercepted her and snatched her handbag. They threatened to kill her when she tried to protest, the police said.
Later, Lin went to the nearby Mangaldas police chowki and lodged a first information report. The FIR said besides cash, the stolen handbag contained Her passport and a credit card.
Dowry harassment: Shilpa Inamdar, a 36-year-old housewife residing in Prabhat Road area, yesterday lodged a first information report at Deccan Gymkhana police station accusing her husband and in-laws of harassing her over dowry demands.
Shilpa alleged in her FIR that her husband Sanjay, father-in-law Ramchandra, mother-in-law Vidula and sister-in-law Madhuri Purohit tortured her over the demand that she bring Rs 5 lakh in cash and a Maruti car from her parents.The police said the harassment started immediately after Shilpa got married in May 1995. Shilpa alleged in her FIR that the harassment increased after her parents sold their flat in Deccan Gymkhana in September 1995.
Computers flicked: Two personal computers, estimated at over Rs 50,000, were stolen from the office of Mona Hotels Limited in Pune Cantonment area on Monday morning.
The police said the unidentified thieves forced entry into the office after breaking open its lock and padlock and stole the computers and some cash.
Robbed: Sushilabai Kantilal Shah, a 70-year-old woman from Premnagar area near Swargate, has lodged a complaint with the Swargate police saying that she was relieved of her gold necklace by two unidentified youths on a Yamaha.
Shah was returning home after a stroll on Sunday evening when the incident took place, Swargate police said.
