Kept in the dark about PM's programme, MCD oppn sulks

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, March 3: Ram Babu Sharma, leader of the opposition in municipal house, has demanded that the citizen felicitation programme for the prime minister scheduled for March 10 be cancelled.

Miffed at not being taken into confidence, Sharma in a strongly-worded letter to the Mayor Yog Dhyan Ahuja, pointed out that he was not even informed. The letter states that as per the traditions of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the opposition should have been taken into confidence. He pointed out that as per the norms, the leader of the opposition and the leader of the house, both issued the invitation together.

Upset at being kept in the dark, Sharma said that he would have joined the BJP in welcoming the PM. He also said that the Mayor should cancel the programme and convene a meeting of the House on March 8 to discuss the matter and issue a fresh invitation to the PM.
