PUNE, March 3: Shivajians `A' defeated Ghorpuri Young Ones 4-2 and Youth Club, Khadakwasala, were made to strive hard for a lone goal win against Old Boys Association while Falcon SC and Rahul SC split a point each in today's encounters played at the Ammunition Factory ground, Kirkee.

Enterprising Falcon SC had Rahul SC on tenterhooks all through. The former went into the lead in the 26th minute of play. Prasad Nair converted the rebound that came his way after Shreejit Ravindran took the first shy at the goal, in the process leaving the keeper Raju Teji stranded.

Two minutes later Falcon strengthened their position with the second goal coming via Suren Sawant. Rahul SC's Gopal Talreja tried to thwart off a Rajiv Raj attempt which only found the boots of Suren who slammed home.

Coming back for the second-half Rahul SC did well to save the match with two goals in a span of ten minutes. Two minutes after the breather Harish Mehra found the net from close range and later Vinay Pillai restored parity.

Shivajians held the upper hand producing better moves. Two goals in each half were enough to hold the rivals at bay. Dwaipayan S produced the first goal from a 20 yard crack at the goal in the 12th minute. The second goal for Shivajians came about only due to a misunderstanding by the rival keeper Shailesh Naik. Thon Paw, positioned on the right flank, aimed a kick at the extreme right upright which appeared to be sailing out. Keeper Shailesh let the ball go past him heeding to a colleagues call to let the ball go out. The move proved costly as the 'keeper turned around only to see the ball inside the net.

After lemon time the third goal was scored by Himanshu Upadhaya ensuing a fine one-two combination with Sameer Satav who sent a neat lobbed pass to the former which saw the keeper Shailesh Naik misjudje the lob. Himanshu lunged forward and did the rest. The fourth goal was gifted off a poor clearance attempt by Anil Pardeshi. Dal Paw sent in an aerial pass in front of the goal mouth. Anil in his haste to thwart the attempt scooped the ball into his own net over the head of the keeper. GYO reduced the margin with two goals coming in rapid succession. Following a flag kick a melee ensued at the goal mouth. Substitute Feroz Khan receiving the ball just outside the eighteen yard box, took a cracking shot which landed inside the net at the top right corner.
