Chautala to bare "ryots power" at Delhi rally

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, March 4: Piqued by being cold-shouldered by the BJP, Om Prakash Chautala, leader of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), is contemplating a massive show of ``farmer-power'' at the proposed March 6 rally in the national capital.

Chautala claims lakhs of farmers would converge at the Ram Lila ground in the capital in a show of solidarity with him on his withdrawal of support to the BJP-led government following Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's refusal to rollback prices of essential commodities like LPG, diesel, fertilisers on the demand of Chautala.

The INLD leader told The Indian Express, H D Deve Gowda, former prime minister and a self-confessed farmers' leader would be the main speaker at the rally. He claims to be able to organise an attendance of ``five lakh Haryana farmers'' for the show.

The INDL had formally withdrawn the support of its four-member parliamentary group following Vajpayee's refusal of their demands. Besides Dewe Gowda, Chautala's father Devi Lal would be attending therally.
