Southern LPG shifts base

ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU
HALDIA, MAR 13: Southern LPG Ltd of Chennai, which had to drop its proposed project for a floating storage and an onshore terminal in Pondicherry after it was caught in a political crossfire, has decided to shift it to West Bengal.

The company is planning an onshore terminal at Raichak near Calcutta and a 150-metre pipeline in the Hooghly riverbed connected with the tank for offloading LPG. The company was named Southern LPG since it had originally planned its project in south India. It was incorporated on March 4, 1994 with a total equity base of Rs 10 crore.

Southern LPG is promoted by four companies. Two of them belong to the Hong Kong-based group of Mundogas -- Mundogas India Ltd and Southern LPG Investors Ltd -- and the other two are Mauritius-based corporate bodies from the GEEPEE group -- PSL Investments Ltd and International Lighterage Ltd.
