Phulkari emporium exhibition on

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PANCHKULA, March 19: An exhibition-cum-sale of silk and cotton sarees, suits and dupattas organised by Phulkari, the Punjab Government Emporium in Sector 17, started at D.C. Model School, Sector 7, here today.

The exhibition will continue till March 25. There are a variety of handloom silk and cotton saris on display and are going at 30 to 50 per cent discount, said Arun Chakarwarti, a sales executive.

Among the silk varieties are baloochari and chanderi sarees priced between Rs 500 and Rs 1,400. The price of Bengali taant varies from Rs 500 to 1,500 while Tussar sarees range from Rs 300 to Rs 800. Ladies' suits with the famous Lucknow chiken work are priced between Rs 400 and Rs 2,000.

The costliest item in the exhibition, a jamawar saree with silver zari work polished in gold, is priced at Rs 14,000. Other varieties include tanchoi, kanchivaram and kora silks.
