Bangalore, March 19: All Indian players in action advanced into the second round of the French Open badminton championships being held in Paris, according to information received here.While defending champion and World No 49 Aparna Popat got a bye, former National champion Manjusha Kanwar registered a hard-fought win over Victoria Hristova of Bulgaria 13-11, 4-11, 11-6. Manjusha now meets Gillian Martin of Scotland while Aparna will meet Anu Weekstrom of Denmark.
In the men's singles, Abhinn Shyam Gupta beat Pavel Kaezynski of Poland 15-8, 15-7. India No 2 Nikhil Kanetkar upset Andrez Pohar of Slovakia 15-3 15-11 for a match-up with J Aalto of Finland.
Former junior champion Sachin Ratti was in his element, knocking out Liu Kwok Wa of Hong Kong 15-6, 15-10.
National champion P Gopi Chand trounced Patrick Boonen of Belgium 15-3, 15-2.India's top doubles pair Vincent Lobo and Jaseel Ismail recorded a creditable win over Ilkka Nyqvist & Ville Kinnunen of Finland 15-8, 15-1.
