Pak survive wake-up call

Punjab lose
A well-knit Maharashtra team outplayed a depleted Punjab by a comfortable 68-46 points in the first quarter-final match in the women's section of the 49th Senior National basketball championship. Kerala also moved into the semi-final after overcoming a fighting Andhra Pradesh by 53-48 margin. The plucky Andhra Pradesh, with Yamuna K Philip waging a lion-hearted battle were trailing by just five points (49-44) in the closing stages of the game.

Airlines in semis
Favourites Airlines survived the Uttar Pradesh onslaught in the second half to score a creditable 2-1 victory and move into the semi-finals of the PSB & SBI 59th National Hockey Championship today. Airlines stroked ahead in the first half, and scored the match-winner through Samer Dad after Avinash Sarena had put UP on a par.

Salgaocar champs
Salgaocar Sports Club, Goa, won their maiden National Football League title edging past a spirited Mohun Bagan 1-0 in a Super-Six tie today.
