Dy registrar forces entry into girls hostel suspension demanded

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
KURUKSHETRA, MARCH 24: The non-teaching employees of the local Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra continue with their `dharna' outside the college building and are unanimously adamant on their demand for the suspension of deputy registrar (administration), who, allegedly, entered the girls' hostel and residence of the chief warden, on the night of March 19.

General Secretary of the union, Tulsi Dass Batra alleged that the deputy registrar (admn), L. C. Mangwana, along with three outsiders from Delhi in car number-DL-2D-8607, manhandled the chowkidar of the girls' hostel and asked him to call a lady warden of the hostel. When the chowkidar on duty refused to oblige them, they entered some filthy remarks in the visitors' book and left the scene in a huff, maintained Batra.

Avtar Singh, the chowkidar who denied them entry into the main college building that night, told ENS that the visitors accompanying the deputy registrar threatened to take him along with them to Delhi if he did not open the gate. All the four persons were drunk that night, informed Avtar Singh.

Whereas, the deputy registrar refused to comment on the episode, on the grounds that he was not authorised to issue statements before the press, Principal of the college N. P. Mehta confirmed that the deputy registrar had visited the college to investigate the theft of a computer, which had been stolen from the mechanical branch a few days ago. While admitting that the deputy registrar did not seek prior permission to visit the college in the odd hours, the principal reiterated his earlier assertion that he would take further action against him, only after receiving the report of the enquiry committee. Meanwhile, the agitating employees have refused to appear before the two-member committee, and have been shouting slogans that the deputy registrar be suspended at the first instance. However, the non-teaching employees have decided to Kmeet the Superintendent of Police and submit a detailed complaint about the whole issue, stated Karamchari Sangh president Bhim Chand.
