Government money for atomic diodes
The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, has sanctioned an amount of Rs 19,59,430 for implementing a project on `Development and Fabrication of High Power Quantum Well Semiconductor Laser Diodes'. According to Chetan Panchal, Principal Investigator and lecturer in the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, this is the first project on Laser Technology awarded to any university in the country by the DAE.

Trader cheated
One Bhikhabhai Patel, an oil trader, complained to the police on Thursday that two unidentified persons cheated him of Rs 2.68 lakh by giving him a fake cheque for the payment of 360 tins of groundnut oil on March 19. Patel said the cheque was of Union Bank of India, Ahmedabad and numbered 135796.

Talks today
The Bharuch District Management Association will organise an evening talk on `Organisational Leadership' by R L Bhatia, Executive Director, Centre for Change Management on Friday. The talk will be held at the GNFC Corporate Building Auditorium, Bharuch, at 6 pm.

Three plays
Ruslan, The Cultural and Literary Organisation of the Department of Russian Language, Faculty of Arts will stage three one-act comedies - Horton Foote's `A Blind Date', Anton Chekov's `The Anniversary' and `The Proposal' - here on March 28 and 29. The plays, directed by Head of Russian Department Debal Dasgupta, will be staged at the C C Mehta Auditorium, M S University, Pratapgunj, from 7 pm. Passes are available at the Department of Russian during office hours (Ph: 786336). Passes can also be collected from Hotstuff (Sama), Archies Gallery (Fatehgunj) and The Shoppe (Alkapuri).
