For the `noon-time binge' at the Park located at Whitefield, was meant to let its Info-Technologists loosen up. But with something other than a computer.

And it was after `The Gerard Machado Network' described as the ``undisputed kings of Jazz in Bangalore'' played numbers like `Jailhouse Rock' and `Stand by me', that the professional residents of the Park started to jive.

Not too bad a response considering this was the maiden attempt at creating what Tech Park CEO Goh Kok Huat believed was ``the ideal ambience for employees to enjoy work''.

According to the CEO, the Binge was based on a concept -- much in vogue in Western work cultures -- a regular bonanza of music, dance and drama in an informal and fun-filled ambience. ``This `excuse' to pamper our residents(through holistic work environments leading to increased individual productivity), will held on the last Friday of everymonth,'' he said.

The Gerard Machado Network performed for more than two hours at the special stage set up inside the Park. Though Park professionals (or residents) appeared ill-at-ease in the beginning, they looked happier after there was a slight dip in the sultry heat.

``It is a good concept,'' observed Tata Consultancy Services Personnel Officer Sunitha K A. ``It will help us unwind and let us meet other people working in the Park,'' she said. She believed that even the timing of the Binge was an advantage. ``All of us are busy all day. We work late into the nights so holding something like this in the evenings will not really generate much of a response. But all of us need to have lunch, don't we?'' she asked. ``So much the better if we can relax and enjoy ourselves at the same time,'' she added.

IT Secretary to the state Government Sanjay Das Gupta and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation) Director General Carlos Alfredo Magarinos were present on the occasion.
