Call to scribes
The Journalists Association, Chandigarh, has given a call to journalists in the city and the states of Punjab and Haryana to wear black badges tomorrow to register their protest against the recent killings of journalists in New Delhi.Exam boycott deferred
The Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers' Union has suspended its call to boycott examinations up to April 10 in response to the Punjab Govt's decision to notify the UGC pay scales to the teachers of the non-government college teachers in city and Punjab, a press release said.
Zira college students demands
The Punjab University authorities have accepted the demands of the students of the Government College, Zira, who began a protest hunger strike today, a press release issued by a SOPU functionary said.
Dharna staged
A dharna was staged by the workers of the Sanjhi Action Committee in front of the Punjab Assembly here today. The workers demanded immediate commencement of the Shahpur Kandi project by the government. The workers alleged that the delay on part of the government had something to do with the on-going negotiations with the multi-national companies which would be unfavourable to the workers.
Camp concludes
The five day social work camp organised by the Youth Club, Khuda Ali Sher, concluded today amidst much fanfare today. The camp was organised at the Government High School of the village where the campers helped to fix the playground.
Centre hailed
Man Mohan Singh, the president of Hotel & Restaurant Association of the city, has cited the exhibition centre at Sector 31 as an answer to the promotion of hospitality industry in the city. According to a statement released by him, the availability of the centre would bring in prosperity to the region.
