CHANDIGARH, March 26: Pakistan was not everybody's dream and neither was Jinnah everyone's leader, said eminent historian and former vice-chancellor of the Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi, Prof. Mushirul Hasan.Hasan was delivering the fourth Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Lecture on `India's Partition Revisited', organised by the Department of Political Science, Punjab University.
Prof. Hasan said that there was a need to rewrite partition histories. He stressed the need to draw upon creative writers to expose the inadequacy of numerous partition histories.
Randhawa only Indian participant at Norway fest?
Dayal Pratap Singh Randhawa, president of the Punjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC), claimed today that he had been the only Indian participant at the International Student Festival in Trondheim, Norway, held from March 5 to March 14.
Randhawa was reportedly one of the 400 participants from 90 countries at the festival based on theme `Solving Conflicts'. The Dean Students' Welfare (DSW) Prof. R. S. Grewal said that a little over Rs 29,000 had been spent by the university in sponsoring Randhawa.
