Ghatpande swings into action, takes on CM, Chief Sec'y
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, March 26: Calling himself ``public interest litigant,'' Arvind Ghatpande has served a notice on Chief Minister Narayan Rane and the Chief Secretary calling them to explain in eight days why no action was being taken against corrupt talathis and why Krishna valley work was being delayed. Failing this, Ghatpande said he would be ``constrained to file a writ of mandamus against both of you in the high court in the larger interest of public.''Ghatpande said both the CM and the Chief Secretary were ``well informed'' of the inquiry conducted into corrupt practices of talathis and circle officers and the evidence collected. Yet, they failed in their statutory duty in taking an action against the guilty. Similarly their alleged ``delaying tactics due to some malafide intention' is delaying the work like land acquisition and rehabilitation of displaced persons at various dam sites under the Krishna valley project''.
