NEW DELHI, MARCH 26: A businessman was robbed of Rs 7.35 lakh at gun-point in Geeta Colony, east Delhi at 11.40 a.m. today. When he resisted, the two assailants shot at him. Fortunately, there was no serious injury as the bullet grazed Gurjeet Singh Chada (44).A resident of Rohini, Chada has a motor spare-parts business in Kashmere Gate and also works as a commission agent for M.L. Enterprises, a finance company.
This morning, he went to the Khureja branch of Vijaya Bank along with another employee from M.L. Enterprises, Raj Kumar. The latter withdrew Rs 7.35 lakh and handed it over to Chada, who put it in his Maruti and started for Kashmere Gate.
Suddenly four youths in a blue Maruti drove past him near the B-Block school in Geeta Colony and stopped him. Two of them got down from their vehicle and took out country-made revolvers. They asked him to hand over the money. When Chada resisted, one of the youths fired at him.
The bullet grazed Chada. He was taken to the SDN Hospital, from where he was subsequently discharged after being administered first aid. The police have registered a case of robbery and are investigating.
