Fire breaks out at sanctuary
Fire broke out twice in the black buck sanctuary at Sunderpura near here on Sunday. Fire Brigade said only dry bushes were burnt in the fire which broke out between noon and around 5 pm. No animal was injured in the fire, officials said, adding the cause of the fire was being ascertained.

Milk prices up
The Baroda Dairy has hiked milk prices by Re 1 with effect from Monday. Meanwhile, in a statement issued here on Sunday, city unit of Janata Dal has criticised the decision and demanded withdrawal of the hike.

Peace appeal
The Vadodara unit of the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has appealed citizens to ensure peace during Bakri Id and Mahavir Jayanti on Monday. The residents must ensure that any elements trying to disturb the festivities are defeated, a PUCL release said on Sunday.

Death mourned
A meeting of managing committee of Society for Clean Environment (SOCLEEN) was held on Sunday to mourn the death of SOCLEEN's founder-president Nanubhai Amin.

Representation
Petrofils Bachav Samiti, an association of staff of Petrofils Cooperative, represented before Union Home Minister L K Advani on the issue of closure of the company's two units and the plight of the workers. The Samiti also handed over a file on the issue during Advani's visit to Ahmedabad.

Greetings
Gujarat Minority Board Chairman Gani Qureshi and City Youth Congress in separate press statements greeted Muslim and Jain communities on Bakri Id and Mahavir Jayanti respectively.

City Youth Congress president Narendra Rawat has appealed people to maintain peace.
